Lefkada and its surrounding islands have some of the most beautiful beaches in Greece. Many of the finest beaches are inaccessible by road and traveling by boat is the only way to reach them. Below are some suggestions for where to go with your motorboat.
Madouri is an uninhabited Island just opposite of Nidri. This privately owned island is in the possession of the Valaoritis family. It’s where the famous Greek poet Aristotelis Valaoritis was raised. You can easily recognise the island from its yellow coloured house in the middle.
Skorpios is one of the most famous private islands in the world, primarily known as the private island of the late Greek shipping billionaire Aristotle Onassis. It has been a playground of the rich and famous in the 60s, as numerous high-profile parties were hosted there.
Upon Onassis’s death, the island was passed to his daughter Christina, and then in turn to her daughter Athina Onassis, the only surviving heir. Onassis, his son Alexander, and his daughter Christina are all buried on the island.
Athina in 2013, sold Skorpios to the billionaire Russian oligarch Dmitry Rybolovlev for $153 million.
Beginning in October 2018 and with a completion date of 2024, Katerina Rybolovleva began developing a 10,000 square meters (110,000 sq ft) luxury resort on Skorpios for a total investment estimated at €184 million.
Abelakia – the north-eastern edge of Meganisi, a stunning stretch of coastline with countless beautiful bays and inlets.
Spartochori – one of Meganisi’s three villages, the rather steep walk from the harbour at Porto Spilia leading up to it is worth it for the stunning views from the top.
Lefkada’s east coast is full with amazing secluded bays and beaches and the only way to reach them is by boat.
